Jalan-Jalan Cambodia - Siem Reap Day One - Tonle Sap.

السلام عليكم & 안영 to all ♥♥

**updated with more photos on 20/09/2015**

I was so busy yet this was the trip I've been waiting for. Like I really need a break, from work.

It's heartbreaking to see MYR keeps on declining and it's not helping as the country I was about to visit is using USD as one of their main currency, instead of their own currency. Weird.

I didn't do much homework about this trip. I had no time to do it. My travel partner this time is Farah Fauzi. I think this was the first time we traveled together, I mean just the two of us. So I didn't know what to expect. HAHA

It is a 3-day trip to Siem Reap, Cambodia. 2 hours from Malaysia via flight. Thanks to AirAsia as usual for the their annual zero-big-points-promo a year ago, I managed to secure two return tickets for me and Farah. TEEHEE.

We boarded the earliest flight to Cambodia at 6.50AM.

HELLO CAMBODIA!
So where do we stay?

We got a pretty good price per night --> MYR 113 (excluded tax). It's a brand new boutique hotel. I loved everything about it except it's not a walking distance to the night markets. In other words, it's not in the middle of the city.

To make our lives super easier, we bought the local simcards.

Why? To stay connected? We bought the simcards at the airport which cost us USD 5 and we got 5.5GB data plan. 5.5GB for 3 days.Wow, fantastic baby.

Since we both didn't do enough homework for this trip, we neither ask for airport pickup from the hotel nor book the TukTuk service in advance. The airport taxi cost us USD 10. Extra USD 3 because 'our hotel's location is far from the city'. For me, it's not that far. It's not even Shah Alam to Subang. Seriously. Oh well.

The taxi driver whom I've forgotten his name thought we were Filipinos. Do we even look like Filipino?

We were hours ahead from a normal check-in time, hence we had to wait for our room to be ready.

Our Welcome Drinks. The straws were lemon grass. Unique.
As we waited for our room to be ready, I started to google about the TukTuk services. Thanks to all bloggers who shared their experiences in Siem Reap, we got few numbers that provide TukTuk services. Bonus --> Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia.

We tried to contact them via Whatsapp, but none responded. We became anxious as it was getting hotter. No air-conditioner at the lobby, FYI. Okay I just realized that. We refused to wait. We didn't want our first day to be wasted like that. We tried to call them instead. After few attempts, one of them picked up our call. Thank you Lord.

We discussed about our itinerary and asked for the service rate. We agreed at USD 55 for 3 days and he would pick us up at 12PM local time. I think we could ask for lower price but we didn't.

TukTuk Service.
Ibrahim --> +855 93 570 348

We got excited when the staff told us that our room's ready. We refresh ourselves with the cold showers. It felt so good.

Ibrahim was really punctual. He was already there before 12PM. We, on the other hand were being a normal girls. But we weren't that late? We finally met Ibrahim and yes his Bahasa Malaysia is very good.

He then brought us to a Halal restaurant --> Muslim Family Kitchen to have our lunch. Don't be surprised as the staffs there speak good Bahasa Malaysia as well. Fret not, this restaurant provides a prayer room. There's a mosque nearby as well.

Just prepare USD 5 per meal. It would be more than enough.

We had a pretty good lunch. Now we could go anywhere. Fully energized. Next pit stop was the Old Market.

Siput rebus/goreng?

While waiting for Ibrahim to pick us up, the USD 1 fresh fruit juice was so tempting, especially during that super hot weather. It was sooooooooooo refreshing!

Farah was so into her watermelon juice.
As usual, Mango Juice for me!

It is advisable for you to wear your shades and mask as the condition of the roads are not good. I mean the roads are now under construction, so yeah.

On our way to our next pit stop --> Tonle Sap, Ibrahim suddenly halted his TukTuk on the side way. On our left side is the Paddy Field I think meanwhile on our right side is the Lotus Field? He asked us to drop by at the Lotus field and we were like, "Whatt?!"

Stopped at the middle of nowhere and he asked us to go down to check on the Lotus Field? We were like, "Hurm nahhh." At the moment, I just wanna go directly to Tonle Sap. Why do we have to stop here?

Since the entrance to the Lotus Field was only 25 cents, we decided to give it a go. And then, it was the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen to date. SUBHANALLAH. I fell in love with the view at that very moment. My mouth kept praising the view I just witnessed.

Asian at work.

The path into the Lotus Field.

The highlight of the day --> Tonle Sap.
The entrance fee: USD 20.

Beautiful sky everywhere in Siem Reap.

The boat was only for us.

Introducing our TukTuk driver; Ibrahim.

The original plan was to watch sunset in Tonle Sap. Unfortunately we weren't able to see it due to the rain. Oh well.

We requested Ibrahim to send us to hotel first before we go to the night markets.

Later that night, we had Halal Indian food in Pub Street. The Plain Naan costs USD 1. They served it gravy-less. And the Naan there was not as fluffy as ours. I prefer Naan in Malaysia, still. Oh, don't try to convert the cost during the makan time. LOL.

After a long day, we deserved a foot massage. Only USD 1 for 15 minutes. It was worth it. It's only the first day though. The next day would be super challenging. We had to get up super early for the sunrise session in Angkor Wat.
